History
Origins and early years[]
Arznarbonodus claimed to have lived in many different ages. (see notes) Allegedly, it took Arznarbonodus a few centuries to get used to his own name.
Somehow and at some pôint, Arzarnabonodus learned a spell of teleportation.[1]
Age of Acheron and early Hyborian Age[]
In ancient Archeron, he used his teleportation ability and got stuck in a temple wall for a century, until someone knocked it down and set him free. It was the allegedly the last time before the Age of Conan that he used his teleportation power,[1] though he later claimed he hadn't practiced teleportation "for a century or two".[2] He could have been set free during the Age of Acheron, during the Fall of Acheron circa 13,000 BC, or even afterwards.
At some point before the Age of Conan when Conan ruled over Aquilonia, Arznarbonodur also traveled into modern history, seemingly somewhere about the Antebellum Era or later during the Modern Age, as he mentioned "petroleum jelly" and chanted "way down upon the Swanee River" when faking to cast a spell.[1]
Hyborian Age of Conan[]
At some point, he witnessed or learned of the ways of King Yezdigerd III of Turan, later mentioning the case of Iranistan's destruction and/or subjugation.[2]
At some point, Arznarbonodus was captured and held prisoner in the Imperial Palace of Yezdigerd, in Aghrapur, capital of Turan.[1]
Zelata the Witch foretold to Prince Conn of Aquilonia of Arznarbonodus, mentioning that he would come to know of two men from the East, one a friend and the other a deadly enemy, the other being King Yezdigerd.[2]
Yzedigerd wanted to learn of teleportation, but Arznarbonodus claimed to have forgotten about it, urging the king to let the torturer work on the magician. He later asked to have his hands set free to demonstrate it, and after mocking Yezdigerd for a bit, teleported away.[1]
He tried to reach the throneroom of Prince Conn of Aquilonia, but miscalculated, and fell off the sky onbly to be found by Aquilonian soldiers and brought to the prince.[2]Attributes
Powers
Arznarbonodus was a magician, who displayed the following powers:
- Immortality, advanced longevity or reversed aging: Arznarbonodus claimed to be centuries old, and to have even lived in the time of Acheron, and hypothesized that he was possibly getting younger.[1]
- Presumably self-sustenance or lack of physiological needs: He claimed to have waited about a century into a wall until he was set free.[1]
- Teleportation: Arznarbonodus knew teleportation,[1] though regularly failed to calculate properly his destination.[1][2]
- Time travel: Arznarbonodur hinted to have traveled through time, seemingly somewhere about the Antebellum Era or later during the Modern Age, as he mentioned "petroleum jelly" and mentioning "way down upon the Swanee River".
- Summoning: Arznarbonodus could summon a set of clothes and apply them to himself.[2]
Notes
- To the claim that no one could pronounce his name, Arznarbonodus stated it was quite simple, having took himself only "a few centuries" to get used to it.[1] He explained its pronunciation, "equal stress on each syllable".[1][2]
- The exact age and origin of Arznarbonodus remains unrevealed. he claimed to be "centuries old", to have lived "many different ages", and to have been active in "ancient Archeron[1] (which can be presumed to be a typo on "Acheron".)
