Astrid and her family were seeking asylum after their village was destroyed by Surtur.
On their way to Asgard, they encountered Thor, but shortly after, Thor was attacked by Ulik who was under the command of Mephisto. Their battle caused an avalanche and killed Astrid and her family, which was revealed to be Mephisto's true intentions.
