Synopsis

Overview[]

During the final stage of World War II, the United States of America detonated two nuclear weapons over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. On August 6th and 9th, 1945, respectively.[1] The two bombings killed hundreds of thousands, most of whom were civilians leading to immediate surrender ending the war.[2]

Events[]

The Allies planned to use the combined powers of Invaders; Namor, the Human Torch and Spitfire to create a tsunami to destroy the islands of Japan. However Gwenny Sabuki convinced them not to due to all the innocence. However this did not matter as the US government who chose instead to use their atomic bomb.[3]

Bombing of Hiroshima

Namor after witnessing the devastation at Hiroshima attempted to stop the attack on Nagasaki. He tried to catch the bomb as it fell from the plane but he failed appearing to have been killed in the blast. He however survived and went into hiding from the surface world.[4]

In 1945, the mutant hero Logan was captured by Japanese soldiers in Japan, where he was sent to a prison camp near Hiroshima. Logan escaped from his cell along with Lt. Ethan Warren, an American soldier who was also captured, and found refuge and love in a local Japanese girl, named Atsuko.[5] Unfortunately, Lt. Warren, himself a mutant, returned and murdered the girl and the two men fought, until both were caught in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima that destroyed much of the city. Logan survived thanks to his healing factor.[6]

Time Travellers[]

Two prisoners escape their prison cell using a magical Monkey's Paw taking them on a journey through time. They first they arrived on the RMS Titanic, then the Hindenburg and finally ending up in Hiroshima, just before the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.[7]

Legacy[]

The Japanese hero Sunfire was raised by his uncle Tomo to hate America due the bombing of Hiroshima. He was raised to believe the radiation from the bombing caused his mother to die during childbirth. He later took him to the ruins of Hiroshima where young Sunfire's powers manifested.[8]

Warren returned in a now flaming skeleton man and hunted for Logan. He attacked him and ripped out Logan's heart and ate it, restoring his human form. Logan stood continued the fight, shocking Warren and tried to kill him with an energy blast. Logan was unfazed and advanced. Warren begged for mercy, but Logan killed him.[9]

Logan's bones were infected with radiation from the Hiroshima blast, but his healing factor kept it at bay. However, when it gave out Dr. Reed Richards discovered that he started to develop leukemia.[10]

Alternative Realities[]

X-Men Movie Universe (Earth-10005)[]

In Earth-10005; in 1945, Logan was imprisoned in a POW camp in Nagasaki. The sirens went off warning off the American attack. A young soldier Yashida noticed Logan chained up and tried to free him as the bomb hits. Logan rushed to save the young soldier before he committed Seppuku. He grabbed him and threw him to the well and shields him while he takes the full force of the nuclear blast. Yashida was shocked to see Logan heal himself in seconds. When they climbed out, they were horrified by the sight of the destroyed Nagasaki.[11]
