History
After Khonshu's avatar Moon Knight was killed, his girlfriend Marlene Alraune lashed out in anger, breaking a statue of Khonshu for failing to save his avatar. In her moment of most despair, she was reached by Ra, who invited her to become his avatar and avenge Spector's death as the Luminary, one who would light to the darkness.[1]
Marlene accepted Ra's power, and for some time patrolled the cities of New York, bringing light to those in need. Eventually she decided to settle her score with Bushman and faced him at Cambodia's Burundan Embassy. Bushman severely injured Marlene who called upon Ra and unleashed a beam of light that killed her opponent.[1]
Marlene was taken to the hospital to recover, where she saw a vision of Marc and decided to reunite with him in the afterlife. This allowed Ra to take over her body directly.[1]
