History

The Australian Alps are a mountain range in Australia,[1] the highest mountain in it being Mount Kosciusko.[2] They are protected by the Australian Armed Forces, including the Royal Australian Air Force, and S.H.I.E.L.D. possibly has jurisdiction there in case there is a threat to world peace.[1]

Alternate reality supervillain Timestream built a futuristic base, protected by cyborg mercenaries, on the top of Mount Kosciusko[1] during the Infinity Crusade (which would keep most of the superheroes busy), choosing the highest mount to erect a transmission station for his plan to control tidal waves and cause floods throughout the continents.[2] His actions attracted the attention of both the Australian Air Force and the cyborg superhero Siege, both of whom tried to destroy the enemy base - but the human Australian soldiers had no chance of success. Siege's activities in the Australian Alps were discovered internationally, and private investigator Misty Knight notified Siege's fellow cyborg and reluctant ally Deathlok, who travelled to the Alps onboard his Dragonfly vehicle, then mistakenly believed Siege was attacking the Australian soldiers (Siege was just trying to keep the soldiers safely away). Collins and Siege joined forces, entering Timestream's base to discover that he was using the Kosciusko base to generate a huge tsunami going toward Australia[1] and in fact was also causing tropic sttorms in China from there. Deathlok and Siege defeated Timestream, causing his base to be destroyed (thou Timestream and his cyborgs escaped),[2] and then, while still in the wreckage, Deathlok and Siege were affected by the epiphany of the Goddess, before they returned to the United States.[3]
