History
When A.I.M. perfected their brainwashing devices, they used them to mind-control several prominent superheroes and take over the New York City, transforming it into Advanced Idea Manhattan. The remaining Avengers - Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Iron Man - set up a base at "Widow's Peak" - an unfinished subway station not present on the maps. With A.I.M. control over New York near absolute and all outside communications cut off, the Avengers only managed to rescue and bring to Widow's Peak just a little over a hundred civilians. After eleven months their luck changed when Black Panther and Iron Man managed to break the brainwashing chip on Steve Rogers and get him back on their side.[1] Unfortunately, they were followed in their retreat and Widow's Peak was discovered and attacked by A.I.M. The five Avengers were forced to escape, leaving the civilians behind.[2] After regrouping and with no other options, Captain America led the team in the direct assault on the A.I.M. Tower in order to take out their power source, which turned out to be the Ruby Egress.[3]
