Under the cry of "Avengers Assemble!", the Captain formed the Avengers with Callisto, Colossus, Magik, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Starfox, Storm, Rachel Summers, Wasp, and, unwittingly, Selene in the guise of Amara Aquilla to rebel against Kulan Gath's tyranny of a Manhattan transformed to barbarism.
