Synopsis for "Delta Force"

The Avengers investigate an emergency signal from the Deviant city of Lemuria. Of course, it's a trap and the Avengers become slaves under the control of brain mines. However, Sersi escapes and seeks the help of the former warlord Kro who assembles a team of Deviant heroes he dubs Delta Force to storm Lemuria. Unfortunately, Sersi was still being used as a pawn by the newly-resurrected Lord Ghaur.

Notes

  • The fact that the image listed as "Blackwulf" is that of Lucian should mean that events in this issue take place after Lucian publicly renamed himself in Blackwulf #2. However, that could be problematic since that comic would not be published until six months after this issue.
  • Although undersea Deviant Lemuria has been shown on "official" maps as being located in the upper part of the South Pacific Ocean and closer to Australia than to South America, a map in this issue seems to show the priority alert from the "South Pacific" emanating from an area of ocean between the southernmost tip of South America and the Antarctic Pennisula. This inaccurate location is supported by dialogue stating that the sighting of the "Orkney Islands" means that the Avengers are closing in on Lemuria. Aside from the fact that the Orkney Islands is an archipelago in the Northern Isles of Scotland, the South Orkney Islands are located in the Southern Ocean, below the South Atlantic Ocean, and hundreds of miles southeast from where Deviant Lemuria should be located.
  • Brother Karygmax first appeared as an unnamed priest in Eternals (Vol. 2) #1. His name was later revealed in the entry on the Deviants that appeared in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (Vol. 2) #3.
