History
Origin[]
Ayesha was a mighty sorceress of Balobedu and possibly the first priestess. It is unclear when exactly she was born, but, according to her descendant Ashake, Ayesha was already alive during the Age of Atlantis[1] (the Pre-Cataclysmic Age, which ended circa 18,000 BC). Magnificent and mysterious as the night sky, Ayesha became known as the Rain Queen of Balobedu circa 10,000 BC[2] (during the Hyborian Age).
At some point, more than 10,000 years ago, Ayesha discovered the magical skill that allowed to suppress magical works of other sorcerers, she named it "Abjuration".[4]
Sorceress Supreme[]
Circa 10,000 BC, when searching for a new Sorcerer Supreme to replace himself, Agamotto the All Seeing asked the great wizard Aged Genghis for assistance. Genghis recommended to hold a battle between all of Earth's mightiest mages, the Time of the Vishanti, to determine the next Sorcerer Supreme and Ayesha emerged as the champion.[2]
She became the first human to bear the title Sorcerer Supreme and dutifully served for nearly 5000 years, before she voluntarily stepped down. Ayesha asked Aged Genghis to find a next Sorcerer Supreme, so a new competition was held. Hermes Trismegistus won and succeeded Ayesha, starting from 5,000 BC.[2]
Legacy[]
It is not known what happened to her after she stepped down, but Ayesha is remembered as one of the greatest Sorcerers Supreme. Her descendants in matrilineal line produced many sorceress, including Ashake of Egypt. Her line continued all the way to the modern days, with Ororo Munroe and her grandmother being Ayesha's currently living female descendants.[1][2]Attributes
Powers
Magic: Ayesha practiced magic at the level of a Sorcerer Supreme.[2]
- Advanced Longevity: Ayesha apparently used magic to greatly extend her lifespan, she stayed alive for at least 5000 years,[2] perhaps even for at least 13000 years as she was presumably already alive during the Age of Atlantis[1] (the Pre-Cataclysmic Age which ended circa 18,000 BC).
- Magic Negation: Ayesha discovered the ability to suppress magical work of other sorcerers. She named it "Abjuration" and later mages considered it to be an advanced skill of magic.[4]

Notes
- Ian McNee in his original research records stated that Ayesha served as Sorcerer Supreme from 10,000 BC to 6000 BC.[5] As he continued his research, McNee later revised her term from 10,000 BC to 5000 BC in his journals that were still his "work in progress".[2]
- Around 19,000 BC Agamotto the All Seeing gathered the greatest sorcerers of that time, but Ayesha wasn't among them.[2] She either wasn't yet born or not yet powerful enough to be invited.
- Ayesha was possibly the first owner of the ancient ruby that was passed down in Ororo Munroe's family from mother to daughter for many generations.[6]
Trivia
- The Rain Queens from Balobedu people (South Africa) are called Mujaji or Modjadji,[7] who possibly inspired the creation of the goddess Mujaji, one of the Gods of Wakanda.
- The character named Ayesha, a powerful immortal queen and sorceress, appeared in the novel She: A History of Adventure (1887) by H. Rider Haggard. It is unknown if she influenced creation and name of this character, or it is a coincidence.
