History
This man was once a scientist, experimenting with the effects of radiation on germs. An accident in the lab exposed him to the irradiated germs and granted him the power to control them.[2]
The accident was secretly caused by the demon D'Kay, who when affected the man's subconsciousness, making him believe that he is a hero with a mission to save humanity and punish the sinners.[4] Naming himself Bacillus the man had joined the Legion of Vengeance and used his power to punish and kill sinners.[1]
The Legion of Vengeance's actions attracted the attention of Ghost Rider and Iron Fist who tried to stop them from killing more people. Bacillus infected Iron Fist with various diseases, almost killing him,[1] but was eventually forced to reverse the process. Ghost Rider then used his Penance Stare on the Legion and discovered the influence of D'Kay on them.[2] D'Kay revealed himself and told them about his plans, and how he tricked Bacillus and others and what instead of heroes they believed themselves to be, they were actually his harbingers of doom, meant to betray and destroy the humanity, with Bacillus representing the betrayal of the body.[4]
Under D'Kay's influence the Legion of Vengeance attacked Ghost Rider and Iron Fist. Bacillus tried to use most deadly diseases on them, but Ghost Rider bound his hands with chain and used it to control Bacillus' movements, forcing him to touch other members of the Legion and eventually himself infecting them all. While they were weak and sick, Ghost Rider made them realize what they were manipulated by D'Kay to bring the end of the world. With his control other them removed, D'Kay then seemingly depowered Bacillus and others, before disappearing. But they in fact retained their powers.[5]
Years later Bacillus was killed in an explosion, orchestrated by a sentient virus from the Microverse that decided to kill everyone with power to control diseases.[3]Attributes
