Notes
- Bal-Sagoth was created by Robert E. Howard in the Turlogh Dubh O'Brien and Cthulhu Mythos story "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth" (Weird Tales; October, 1931), adapted by Marvel Comics in Conan the Barbarian #17 and #18 (August and September, 1972), written by Roy Thomas and penciled by Gil Kane.
- It was stated that Bal-Sagoth was older than Atlantis[1] (known to be over twenty-two thousand years old).[3] It was also stated that the Vilayet started as a string of lakes formed at the time of the Cataclysm (which occurred circa 18,000 BC.[4] It is unknown whether the statement is an exaggeration, or if Bal-Sagoth truly existed before, whether on the mainland or as an island predating the Great Cataclysm.
- Similarly it is unknown if Bal-Sagoth was truly the oldest land in all the world, and consequently being possibly set in the Elder Days.
