History
Bast was a psychopomp goddess worshipped in Wakanda, where she guided the souls of the deceased to the Ancestral Plane,[1] along with Sekhmet.[2] At some point, she came to reside in Omnipotence City.[3]
Notes
- Concept art for Bastet from Thor: Love and Thunder depicts her holding an ankh, in reference to her origins as an Ancient Egyptian deity.
Trivia
- In the main universe, Bast is part of the Wakandan pantheon, which has two other Egyptian gods: Thoth and Ptah, in addition to other deities of different African origins.[4] Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bast and Sekhmet are rivals, Sekhmet is not part of the Wakanda pantheon and is worshiped in the Lion cult.[5]
