History
Bavel was one of the Evolutionaries's New Men and handmaiden of Dr. Sarah Kinney. Sarah and her lover Herbert Wyndham attempted to magically and genetically engineer a vessel for the demonic entity Mephicthton. Sarah herself conceived and birthed their twenty-third attempt, a mutant girl named Laura.
Sarah tried to nurture Laura's humanity and empathy, but Wyndham insisted to treat her like a specimen above such values.[1] Afraid that Laura could eventually lose herself, Sarah created a younger clone of her named Gavrill to anchor Laura to her humanity if necessary. Sarah kept Gavrill's existence from everybody save Bavel, who took upon herself to help raise the child in secrecy.[2] While trying to free Laura from the cult, Sarah was killed, and in her last words she told Laura to protect Gavrill.[1] Laura rampaged through the Evolutionaries' Keep until she reached Gavrill's nursery, where Bavel introduced both and tried to escape with them. They were intercepted by Wyndham and Hellhound, and during the ensuing fight, Hellhound impaled Bavel.[2]
