History

Baxter Anderson was a criminal involved in insider trading and real estate fraud, as well as a sexist grubby man who made lewd comments to any beautiful woman in hearrange no matter his relationship. Anderson hired thief Black Cat to obtain information with which he could blackmail the owners of New York City properties he wanted to buy, below market value, for redevelopment. He also hired supervillain Hydroman to cause "accidental" wreckages on those who were unwilling to sell, frequently owners of small family businesses in old buildings. The Cat also stole compromising information from Anderson himself, because she did not trust him, because she disliked his male chauvinism, and because he saw him harassing the owners of the Salvatore restaurant when they refused to sell and she suspected Anderson had something to do with the tidal wave that had wrecked the locale. The Black Cat entered Anderson's office to steal specific details, but she was followed by her former lover Spider-Man, whom she tried to convince about her reasons; and then both were attacked by Hydroman. Hydroman was defeated by the Black Cat and Spider-Man's teamwork; but the Cat escaped supposedly with relevant information (thou nothing was believed to be stolen). A few weeks later, Anderson was arrested for real estate fraud and insider trading, his fall being headlines in the Daily Bugle; and the Cat made an anonymous donation to the Salvatore restaurant so as to undo part of the damage Anderson had done.[1]
