History

With Ember

Becca Constance Simon-Pinette (of the Loudoun County Simon-Pinettes) was a mutant born to a wealthy and overprotective mother. She kept Becca from the outside world, raised her as a perfect American princess, and taught her to hate and fear mutants, causing her to have difficulty in accepting herself since she discovered she was one.[2]

Becca and her horse, Ember, with which she shares a psychic connection,[3] were later pursued by a monstrous creature called the Hag alongside three other young mutants, which prompted the group to seek the X-Men's help. After engaging in a brief fight against the X-Men over a misunderstanding, Becca and the other Outliers were taken in as their new students.[5]

Psychokinesis: Calico is a mutant with apparent psychic abilities.[3]

  • Telepathy
  • Summoning: Calico was able to summon her steed Ember to the mall to aid her and her friends when they were suddenly attacked by Sentinels dogs.[6]
  • Mind Link: Calico developed a powerful connection with her steed Ember due to her mutant power.[3]
    • Power Bestowal: Calico's link with Ember enables her to change it into various horse-forms at will.[3]
  • Psychic Constructs: Upon changing Ember into a different horse-form, Calico generates a set of constructs made out of mental energy for her and her steed. Thus far, she was seen creating armor, a sword and a pair of wings with this ability.[1]
    • Fire Generation: Calico can psychically create flames able to actually burn and act like fire, yet under her control.[6]

Weaknesses

Due to her strong connection with her steed Ember, Becca mutant powers become less effective if they are separated for long enough.[7]

  • Ember and all of the horses in her house are her only friends.[2]
  • Her mother banned her from films, tv and music, saying that it would only hurt her at the end.[2]
    • Even though Becca grew up in a extremely wealthy family, she has no concept of money, as she had no idea if $400 was a lot or a small amount of money. It can be assumed that because of her very sheltered life, she is ignorant to many common practices.[6]
  • Becca doesn't really know how to talk to people.[2]
  • Becca is very fond of dancing the ballet.[6]
  • Becca has been confirmed as a lesbian, after confessing her feelings to her teammate Sofia.[8]
