Actress Belinda Bell was one of Madame Web's students, and was hired to impersonate K.J. Clayton.

History

Belinda Bell was a young, attractive[1] actress and model,[1][2] and the newest student of psychic Cassandra Webb. Media mogul Rupert Dockery, circulation manager of the Daily Globe, and Globe's reclusive owner and publisher K.J. Clayton[1] hired Bell to impersonate Clayton[1][2] in meetings, as Clayton was ashamed of having lost her youthful beauty. Dockery then bribed Bell so that Bell, impersonating Clayton, would give Dockery controlling power over the newspaper. Bell understood that this was an evil deed, but was seduced by greed.[1] However, Dockery betrayed Bell by hiring five hoods to kidnap her just during a meeting in the Globe's conference room, in front of the staff.[1][2] Globe staff member Peter Parker, secretly the superhero Spider-Man, tried to stop the kidnapping, but Dockery blocked his path and had ensured that the criminals would have a clear escape route through the elevator.[1] During the kidnapping, Bell dropped a publicity flyer of Web's.[1][2] The hoods took Bell to Dockery-owned train model shop Hickory Dockery Toy Store in Manhattan,[1][2] keeping tied-up Bell there while Dockery tried to eliminate the real Clayton. Bell heard the men's plans, and was scared for herself and for Clayton.[1]

Spider-Man, finding the flyer, followed the clue to Web. Web used her psychic powers to reveal that the kidnapped person had not been Clayton, as Spider-Man believed; that Bell was frightened;[1] and that she was in a place with jumbled railroad trains.[1][2] Initially believing this was a real train station or terminal, Spider-Man checked Grand Central Station and Penn Station,[1] then correctly deduced Web had seen toy trains and found about Hickory Dockery Toys,[1][2] which had abundance of such items and was owned by Dockery.[1] Spider-Man saved Bell, defeating the henchmen. Still tied, Bell urged Spider-Man to leave and save the real Clayton.[1]
