Benedict Ryan was a failed businessman who made an unsuccessful run for the United States Senate. Attempting to capitalize on the hate against Mutants in the aftermath of the 7/15 incident, he became the host of a minor radio talk show in Maryland despite not being a strong believer in the anti-Mutant cause himself. He was approached by Reeva Payge who offered to grant him power and influence in exchange for following her orders. Thanks to Reeva, in less than four years Ryan had become the host of a major talk show at Hawk News and one of the nation's most well-known anti-Mutant advocates. Unknown to the public, he was also a major supporter of the Purifiers movement.[1]
