The Thing shared a similar history to his Mainstream counterpart until after being infected with "Virus-X". Instead of seeking the assistance of Captain America and Bill Foster he set out to find a cure on his own. However, due to his Cosmic Radiation mutated anatomy he crashed his Sky-Cycle and hid in a cave to continue mutating. He was discovered by the rest of the Fantastic Four and Alicia Masters just as his body was overloaded with energy. He exploded and returned to his human form, having completely expelled the Cosmic radiation and cured Alicia's blindness. He left the Fantastic Four with plans to marry Alicia.[1]
