Bernard was Norman Osborn's personal butler who served the Osborn family. He remained silent for most of the series mostly only speaking when trying to give Harry Osborn advice. He revealed to Harry that his father died by his own hand, thus ending the Harry's feud against Spider-Man.

• Bernard Houseman was portrayed by the late John Paxton (father of the late Bill Paxton who played John Garrett on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) in each of the three films of the Spider-Man trilogy.
