Big Hero 6: The Series is a 2D animated television series that serves as a continuation to the 2014 film Big Hero 6. The series was announced as being under development in March 2016.[1]

On March 14, 2017, it was announced ahead of the show's premiere that Disney XD had ordered a second season to the series.[2]

On October 17, 2017, it was announced that a one-hour television film titled Big Hero 6: Baymax Returns would be aired on Disney Channel and Disney XD on November 20th, as a prequel to the series, along with several shorts released afterwards, before the show would air in early 2018.[3]

After the television film aired, the rest of the series moved to the Disney Channel.

On April 16, 2019, ahead of the second season premiere on May 6, 2019, it was announced that Disney Channel had renewed this series for a third season.[4]

On January 28, 2021, it was announced that the third season would be the final one.[5]
