Bill was the superintendent of the Shastor Shop which built high precision machine parts. When Jim Branner, the design head at the Shastor Shop, noticed various changes in the development of the parts, he asked manager Bill Tooney how this was possible, but Bill dismissed it as no big deal. Shortly before leaving the Shop, Jim noticed that Bill was collaborating with strange individuals who didn't seem entirely human and under his control he began to design pieces that would serve them. At the end of the job he remained as if he had lost consciousness and when he recovered he found himself next to Bill telling him that he had come back for something he had forgotten and he was surprised that he was still there.[1]
