Professional History
Björg Nyberg was a Swedish fantasy author.
He wrote stories centered on Conan, the barbarian warrior created by Robert E. Howard. Those were revised by L. Sprague de Camp, another author that wrote Conan stories, sometimes credited as writer, and some were based on unfinished fragments from Robert E. Howard.
Adaptations[]
Some of his Conan stories were adapted in Marvel Comics:
- "People of the Summit" (1970, revised in 1978) was adapted in "Demons of the Summit", in Savage Sword of Conan #3 (December, 1974). L. Sprague de Camp isn't mentioned as a writer for his revisions.
- "The Star of Khorala" (1978) was adapted in Savage Sword of Conan #44 (September, 1979). L. Sprague de Camp was mentioned as a writer, and Lin Carter was erroneously credited instead of Nyberg.
- "Conan the Avenger" (1968) was adapted in "The Ring of Rakhamon!" in King Conan #5 (March, 1981), in "Vengeance from the Desert!" in King Conan #6 (June, 1981), in "A Clash of Kings!" in King Conan #7 (September, 1981), and in "A Queen Reclaimed!" in King Conan #8 (December, 1981). L. Sprague de Camp was credited in all issues but not Robert E. Howard, and in #7, Lin Carter was erroneously credited instead of Nyberg.
- In the adaptation, a Turanian is named the Kholarian Star, possibly a (mispelled?) reference to Nyberg's "The Star of Khorala".
