History

The Blaakguard Building was a skyscraper in Chicago hiding a secret Damage Control node, the Remote Prison 42 where the Maker was once held prisoner.

When he set out to escape custody, the Maker mentally broke and reprogrammed a team therapists over the course of thirty-seven sessions. They enlisted a team of four mercenaries led by Randall West to reach the Maker inside his cell. The exact purpose of West and his cohorts wasn't to break the Maker out, but rather to serve as a collective decoy to disguise his escape. The mercenaries had been secretly selected by the Maker due to their combined genetic profiles. When they reached him, the Maker used a device that merged the four mercenaries and transfigured them into a near-catatonic duplicate of himself that he left behind.

Two weeks later, the Maker orchestrated the collapse of the Blaakguard Building, bringing Mister Fantastic's attention so that he could find out about the existence of the Damage Control node and learn about the break out.[1]

Trivia

  • The Blaakguard Building takes the place and is modelled after the real-life John Hancock Center.
