History
Circa 18,500 BC, Rotath of Lemuria, a priest of nameless gods, was slain by the exiled Atlantean Kull on the orders of Asfodel IV, king of Lemuria. He cursed Asfodel IV, Kull,[7] and humanity by "the fane of the Black Gods".[1][8]
At the same era, the Black Gods were invoked on the island of Atlantis.[2][3][4][5]Notes
- The Black Gods were mentioned by Robert E. Howard in "The Curse of the Golden Skull"[1] (1928). The story was adapted in Conan the Barbarian #37 (April, 1974), but the Black Gods aren't mentioned in that adaptation.
- The "Black Gods" were mentioned in Kull the Destroyer #18 (written by Doug Moench), 21, 24, 26, and 27 (written by Don Glut) (December, 1976 to June, 1978).
- Robert E. Howard also created the Black Gods of R'Lyeh in "Worms of the Earth" (Weird Tales; November, 1932), adapted in Marvel Comics in Savage Sword of Conan #16 (December, 1976) and 17 (February, 1977). R'lyeh was created by H.P. Lovecraft in "Call of Cthulhu" (Weird Tales; June, 1928).
