History

The Black Hills are a small mountain range, primarily in South Dakota. The Master of the World moved his Plodex spaceship into phase within the mountains. There he conducted numerous genetic experiments. One such experiment resulted in the creation of the Remnant Men - mutated citizens who he forced to protect his ship. One of his experiments was on the Canadian adventurer Puck which lead to his Alpha Flight teammates Shaman, Aurora, Sasquatch, and Talisman to the Black Hills in search of him. There, they battled the Remnant Men and discovered the Master's ship. They were able to liberate and cure most of the Remnant Men and their teammate Puck. The Master, sensing defeated teleported out of the Black Hills.
