History

The Black Powers were all African-American patients at the Clinic for Paranormal Research in Wisconsin. Their leader Indigo was incensed at racism within the Clinic and encouraged other African-American patients to leave their assigned therapy groups and form their own, the Black Powers. She soon recruited Charlotte Beck, who wanted to leave her own therapy group after she was rejected by a white fellow group member Randy O'Brien.[1]

Thanks to Indigo's confrontational attitude, the Black Powers soon clashed with other patients, beating up O'Brien (until he was saved by one of the only African-American patients not to join them, Jeff Walters), fighting with a teenage splinter group the DDTeens and being targeted by the racists Freefall and Tangler. Freefall and Tangler murdered two of the Black Powers, Chill and Blindside, and attempted to murder a third, Squirm. During a riot that broke out between the patients, Indigo and Bazooka attacked Freefall and Tangler. Charlotte Beck left the Black Powers to rejoin her old therapy group, and Squirm joined the DDTeens, both of them leaving the Clinic. [2]

Indigo and Bazooka (who had started a relationship) were the only remaining members of the Black Powers when the Clinic was raided by the police because of some unreported deaths at the Clinic. The two of them fought the police and Indigo was shot in the stomach, killing her.[3] After the Clinic was shut down, Bazooka was drafted into the army with the other male paranormals.[4]
