History

At some point the Symbiote took on Johann Shmidt as a host, transforming him into Black Skull, member of the Multiversal Masters of Evil.

When the Multiversal Masters of Evil finally made a move against Earth-616, the faced both Prehistoric and modern Avengers in a battle that raged for days. Losing his patience, Johann Shmidt deliberately gave up trying to control the symbiote, intending to unleash its full strength against the Avengers. Instead, the symbiote abandoned him for Young Thanos. It was then burned off Thanos by the Phoenix Force and trapped under Mjolnirs.

The Avengers won the day, and all surviving Masters of Evil departed, presumably leaving the symbiote on the prehistoric Earth-616.
