The series was first announced on San Diego Comic Con 2015, with the creative team originally consisting of Tim Seeley and Logan Faerber. The premise consisted of Blade partnering with his 16-year-old long lost daughter Fallon Grey. It was originally going to debut in October 2015.[1] After the first issue was removed from comic solicitations, editor-in-chief Axel Alonso stated there were yet to be announced updates on the series' release, but guaranteed they were going to be "worth the wait."[2] On March 24, 2016, Afua Richardson was announced as the series' new artist;[3] however, no more details were given about the series. Alonso still assured fans that Blade was in development.[4] On September 19, 2016, Seeley confirmed he had quit the book due to what he considering were justified criticisms to the fact that he was a white person writing a book with black leads.[5]
