It has been suggested by ADour that our zero tolerance policy for multiple account abusers should be relaxed to allow for varying degrees of punishment for this offense on a case-by-case basis.
Background: Gipdac was warned by TMAO at least three times that I'm personally aware of though there may have even been more, not to create articles based upon fanon character names. After what was at least the third strike, following a brief discussion with other Admin, TMAO blocked Gipdac for a period of three weeks. Rather than accept this decision, Gipdac decided to circumvent the block by creating at least one sock-puppet account in violation of FANDOM's terms of service. As a result, both of Gipdac's known accounts were given an indefinite block for "Abusing multiple accounts."
So I guess the questions before us now are:
- Should some multiple account abusers be treated differently than others?
- Should users banned for multiple account abuse always be allowed to continue to post on their walls henceforth in order to facilitate appeals directly?
- What minimum standard should be required for an appeal to be considered?
- By what mechanism should these appeal be handled? (Do we debate every one? Would blocks be overturned by simple majority or is there a higher threshold?)
Anyway, please provide input on this potential change to the way we treat multiple account abusers and clearly voice your vote accordingly. Thanks.
