The Bolsheviks, were a faction founded by Vladimir Lenin and Alexander Bogdanov. After forming their own party in 1912, the Bolsheviks took power during the Russian Revolution in November 1917, overthrowing the liberal government after the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, and became the only ruling party in the Soviet Union. They considered themselves the leaders of the revolutionary working class of Russia.[1]

On October 25th leftist revolutionaries led by Bolshevik Party leader Vladimir Lenin launched coup d’état against the Duma's provisional government. They arrested the royal family and took them to a house in Tolbusk. The family were later executed in the basement. The youngest daughter Anastasia escaped to Berlin but paused away in hospital.[2]See Also
