Boy-Spider is a mutated clone of Spider-Boy, created by Madame Monstrosity using the DNA samples of both Bailey and a spider, making him a genetic inversion of Spider-Boy.

History

Madame Monstrosity created him after she saw Spider-Boy's barcode tattoo and saw which DNA matched with her experiments. From the DNAs she rediscovered, Madame Monstrosity decided to create a monstrous clone of Spider-Boy, dubbing him Boy-Spider before letting him loose.[1]

Boy-Spider, lacking morality and maturity, began causing chaos, all the while mudding Spider-Boy's name as people confused them as the same person. Spider-Man (Miles Morales) soon intervened and fought the monstrous creature, until Briggs and his mentor Spider-Man (Peter Parker) arrived due to the former having premonition about this battle. Briggs talked to his clone in the spider language, learning that he was just a misunderstood creature and decided to let him go while preventing the Spider-Men from chasing him, allowing Boy-Spider to return to his creator. As Madame Monstrosity drove off, Boy-Spider was calmed down by Tabby who was revealed to be a mutated Tabitha Briggs, Bailey's mother.[1]

Trivia

  • His inverted suit was accidental, Madame Monstrosity asked one of her experiments, a dog hybrid named Mr. Muttman, to make an exact replica of Spider-Boy's suit. With Madame Monstrosity forgetting that he was colorblind, Mr. Muttman accidentally swapped the colors.[1]
  • Boy-Spider considers Bailey to be his "brother", perhaps since they share the same DNA and there was a psychic link between the two of them.[1]
