History

Smitty was the foreman at the mining camp Rose and Logan showed up at. He took Logan under his wing and showed him everything he knew about the camp and mining. Eventually he developed feelings for Rose, and on the night the two were to leave the camp to get married, she was accidentally killed by Logan. Smitty began to search for Logan, not for revenge, simply because he wanted him back. However, Smitty search was futile as Logan couldn't remember his own name because of what happened.
