History

Discovering her Bloodline[]

The daughter of Eric "Blade" Brooks and Safron Caulder, Brielle Brooks was born with no indication that she was a dhampir, like her father. Therefore, Blade asked Doctor Strange to cast a spell that would prevent anyone from ever sensing Brielle through magic. The family lived happily together for a while, but eventually Blade had to return to his usual ways.[4] Sometime after, Brielle moved with her mother to Atlanta, where she lived a normal life,[5] with no memory or knowledge of her father.[4]

During her teenage years, she started manifesting abilities akin to her father's, coinciding with the death of Doctor Strange, which made the spell wear off. When her mother realized this, she called Blade, and Blade and Brielle finally met after years apart.[6]

However, both of her parents were kidnapped by the followers of a duplicate of Deacon Frost, who wished to use Blade's blood to empower the vampires. Brielle, accompanied by her friends Rebecca and Jayden, went to save her parents, and her mother was let go since the blood of Blade's daughter was required for the ritual. Frost's followers, led by false vampire hunter Whitney Nieves, had followed Safron in order to capture Brielle. Brielle managed to defeat them and went to Frost's base to save her father, but to her dismay he had lost his mind and was overcome with bloodlust. She tried to calm him down, but was prevented by Frost, who went to strike her. Luckily, a reformed Whitney got between them to protect Brielle, allowing her to bring her father to her senses and together kill Frost's duplicate.[7]

Avengers Academy[]

Brielle started training with her father,[4] and, with time, she started joining him on missions.[8] Around this time, Strange also returned to life and his spell was reactivated, rendering Brielle invisible through magic once again.[9]

Agatha Harkness, who was interested in the girl, kidnapped her friend Jayden to get her attention. She revealed she saw potential in her and wanted Brielle to join her, but Brielle refused. Surprising Brielle, Harkness respected her wishes and left, but not before giving her a gift, the kitten Walpurgis, born to Harkness's own cat, Ebony.[9]

On her way home with Jayden, the two were intercepted by Doctor Voodoo, who also invited Brielle to join him. Despite being hesitant at first, Jayden encouraged her and thus she parted with Voodoo and Walpurgis to explore her potential,[9] becoming one of the students of the new Avengers Academy.[10]

Blood Hunt[]

While hanging out with her friends Rebecca and Jayden, Brielle sensed the Darkforce being unleashed in the sky, covering the entire Earth and blocking out the sun. This allowed the vampires to attack without the threat of being scorched by the sun, forcing Brielle to fight them. Dracula appeared before her, telling her that he required her help to save the world. She begrudgingly accepted, going with Dracula to New York, but not before leaving a message for her mother.[11][12]

There as the two fought off hostile vampires, Brielle and Dracula were intercepted by the Bloodcoven who were sent to capture her. Luckily, the remaining Avengers arrived to their aid and together managed to repel the Bloodcoven. The heroes made their way to the Sanctum Sanctorum where they were greeted by Strange's astral form, the Midnight Mission, Spider-Man whom Brielle had befriended when fighting R'ym'r. However, upon reuniting with Spider-Man, the latter lost control and revealed himself to have been turned into a vampire.[13] Under mind control, Spider-Man attempted to attack Brielle, but thankfully was returned to his senses by Strange. As they discussed about the culprit of the vampire invasion, Dracula revealed to Brielle that the man behind all of this was no other than her father Blade. He elaborated that Blade had unleashed the Blood Hunt just for her due to her being the only one able to kill him since they were blood-related. Shocked over not only the fact that her father had organized this worldwide bloodshed, but she was required to kill him, Brielle freaked out and fled, leaving the Sanctorum and running aimlessly.[14]

Continuing to run, Brielle went against other vampires, until Daredevil arrived to her aid. After making quick work of the vampires, she and Daredevil went to a rooftop to calm for a bit. There she told Daredevil the situation she was in, and didn't what should do as she didn't want to kill her father. Daredevil comforted Brielle, telling her that it was her decision and shouldn't be ashamed of which one she took, but she should consider what was the right thing to do. Dracula soon arrived to get her back, emotionlessly telling her to cease her wallowing as she was required. Daredevil got between them, only for Dracula to push him aside, and not wanting to make matters worse Brielle agreed to go with him. On their way back to the Sanctorum, they were again attacked by vampires, and during the fight Blade arrived all of a sudden and knocked Brielle out.[15]

Blade trapped Brielle's consciousness in a illusionary world taking appearance of a medieval version of Atlanta where he was her teacher inside a castle. Blade attempted to corrupt her by increasing her bloodlust and convince her to join his side. This attempt would've succeeded hadn't been for her mother calling Brielle, waking her up. She figured out that he wasn't actually her father, but it was in fact the progenitor of all vampires Varnae who had possessed her father's body, and with this new knowledge she became determined to free Blade from the first vampire lord.[16]

Reuniting with Dracula, they watched on as the Avengers arrived to Varnae's Temple of the First Blasphemy that had just appeared in Central Park and planned to strike at him. During the fight between Varnae and the heroes, Brielle surprised him by plunging her sword in his chest. To her dismay, Varnae that it was too late as he had by now fully possessed Blade, and as a result she wasn't considered of his bloodline anymore. Luckily, Spider-Man joined in by also plunging his bioelectric sword which delivered heavy damage to him since he was now technically of his bloodline. This contributed to exorcism of Varnae from Blade's body, freeing her father from his possession but was left in an injured state. Brielle remained by her father's side as he recovered following the thwarting of the vampire invasion.[17]

Attributes

Powers

Dhampir Physiology: Brielle has inherited some of her father's abilities, among which are:[4]

  • Superhuman Strength: As a Dhampir, Brielle possesses the strength of a vampire, Brielle once accidentally broke a baseball bat just by swinging it.[3] She also has sufficient strength to easily rip off a car door with her bare hands, and she's able to hold her own against ordinary vampires with pure strength.[11]
  • Superhuman Durability[11]
  • Superhuman Agility: Brielle's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. She can leap several feet into the air and is able to move, jump, climb, flip, and run at incredibly fast speeds without difficulty or exhaustion.[11]
  • Contaminant Immunity: Like her father, the enzymes in Brielle's blood also made her immune to normal vampire bites.[11]
  • Regeneration: Brielle, like true vampires, possesses an accelerated healing ability that allows her to heal mild to moderate injuries with much greater speed and efficiency than ordinary humans. She is capable of healing from severe bites or scratch wounds within a matter of minutes to hours depending on the severity of the wound.[15]
Magical Undetectability: Thanks to the protection spell placed on Brielle by Doctor Strange she can't be sensed by magic.[4] Magic users and those who got their powers from magic, for example, Kid Juggernaut, normally can't detect her presence even when she stands right in front of them, and even when they do notice her they have to intentionally focus their attention on her or they would lose her again.[10]

Weaknesses

Just like her father, Brielle possesses one weakness common to all vampires: the need to ingest fresh blood to stay alive and keep her self-control intact. However, as a substitute for blood, she can consume special serum pills that provide even better nourishment than blood would provide. If she doesn't drink the serum pills for an extended period of time, she will weaken and her self-control will be stretched.[15]
