History

Crossbones was a mercenary with strong ties Hydra and a frequent foe of Captain America. He was present when Doctor Faustus performed a ritual that resurrected Lilith, commenting that Faustus should call Zemo next time.

Months later, Crossbones was shadowing Faustus. When Doctor was captured by Captain Marvel, Crossbones shot him from a distance with a weapon then disintegrated Faustus' body completely. Crossbones then led the attack on the Avengers Tower, secretly aided from the inside by Bruce Banner who had been corrupted and turned into a servant of Lilith. Crossbones fought Captain America, Iron Man and the Hunter long enough for Banner to disable the Tower's defenses and get away with the Gamma Accelerator. The Hydra forces were victorious, and the Avengers retreated from their Tower.

End of the line

Crossbones later teamed up with Fallen Sabretooth in chasing after Johnny Blaze who was in possession of the Parchment of Power that Lilith was after; Blaze was able to shake their pursuit. By the time Lilith moved her operations to Transia, Crossbones became unhappy with how she took over the Hydra for her needs. Rumlow decided to leak Red Skull's secret to Captain America, but being his usual self went about by taking a bunch of civilians hostage and threatening to obliterate them unless Rogers showed up to face him in person. When Cap arrived on the scene, Rumlow activated a Gamma explosive device and primed it for detonation. Captain America and Hunter disabled the device, while Rumlow himself was shoved off a high bridge. Rogers caught his fall, but Rumlow forced him to let go, though not before showing a USB stick with the information into Rogers' hand.
