Brona's Barrier was a dimensional barrier separating the Outer Realms from the Inner Realms.

It was at first near-impossible to cross, save for a few adept wizards (and without being able to carry someone else along), but the Prismatic Bridge of Asbru was created by the Architect of the Bifrost, allowing passage to the dimensions beyond.

History

When two spirit forms of two creatures, one from the Outer Realms, the other from the Inner Realms, fell in love but were stopped by the invisible Brona's Barrier preventing them from touching each other, they sought out magicians adept enough to be able to travel through the barrier, but none powerful enough to carry someone along.

One of them, who had created the Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge linking Asgard to the rest of the Nine Realms. The two lovers promised they would pay any price, the wizard needed "two souls who long to touch", and so completed his bridge while the lovers died, without having ever seen each other but joined together for eternity inside the Prismatic Bridge of Asbru.[1]
