History
Origins[]

Bruce Banner
An intellectual but introverted child, Bruce Banner was raised by his aunt following the tragic murder of his mother by his abusive father right in front of him. Bruce repressed this childhood trauma and grew up to become a highly regarded nuclear scientist at the United States Defense Department where he designed a new gamma bomb based on Howard Stark's original Gamma Accelerator. It was during an experimental detonation of that weapon that Bruce, while attempting to rescue a civilian who had strayed into the area, was hit with a massive blast of gamma radiation. As a result, his pre-existing dissociative identity disorder now manifests as a physical transformation into the Hulk that he has yet to gain full control of.
Lilith's minion[]
Banner sent his Avengers teammate Tony Stark an urgent message warning of an imminent danger to the Sanctum Sanctorum, which turned out to be the arrival of Mother of Demons Lilith. Bruce's obsession with understanding the Hulk had led him to Lilith, who turned him into her minion who continued to act as a mole inside the Avengers Tower. Thought he acted odd and the team worried about him, none truly realized what was happening until it was too late.[1]

Banner's betrayal is revealed.
Banner called the Avengers, stationed at the Abbey, and explained that his condition was affecting him while only he and Captain America remained stationed at the Tower. The call began breaking up due to interference, though the phrase "complete defensive grid failure" rang through clearly before Banner warned the team about approaching Hydra gunships. Iron Man and Hunter immediately departed for Avengers Tower, where as they and Cap fought Hydra forces Banner was lowering the defenses that enabled the Hydra to take over. When all was done, Banner leapt onto Crossbones' helicopter, taunting the heroes and expressing gratitude for the Gamma Accelerator he took from the Tower. Banner then triggered a series of explosions throughout Avengers Tower as the heroes narrowly escaped.[1]

Banner with Lilith
Banner became primary asset due to his brilliant mind and his knowledge of the Gamma Radiation. When his secret lab was breached by Hunter, Magik, and Nico Minoru, Banner was confused on how they were able to located him before deducing that they came for their friend Wanda Maximoff rather than the Gamma Accelerator. He then revealed a large glass tube with Wanda inside, also corrupted by Lilith. She Scarlet Witch burst through and attacked, prompting the Midnight Suns to flee. Later, inside the Sanctum, Lilith stood next to Banner near a device containing green energy. Banner activated the device, causing energy to erupt outward and creating a breach in the floor from which green energy spheres emerged. Lilith touched one of these spheres and commanded it to "Seek," before she and Banner left through a portal. The Sanctum began to disintegrate and exploded.[1]

The Fallen Hulk retained Banner's personality and intelligence.
Banner deliberately triggered a security alarm by digging into Howard Stark's old files on the Gamma Accelerator in order to lure Tony Stark into a trap. Banner attempted to persuade Tony to join him in completing Howard's work, but Tony declined and Banner fled. Tony was able to steal the Gamma Accelerator back and planned to use it to destroy the Parchment of Power at Hulk's birthplace, the Los Diablos Missile Base. Banner jumped from a helicopter directly into the blast, which transformed him into an even more powerful Fallen Hulk while retaining Banner's intelligence. Able to recover the Parchment of Power for Lilith, the Fallen Hulk then became Lilith's top muscle when she shifter her focus to Transia.[1]

Fallen Hulk is awed by the Temple of Chthon.
Completing the Darkhold with the Parchment of Power, Lilith returned to her tomb in Transia. Hunter, Blade, and Ghost Rider ventured there and found Lilith channeling Darkhold's power through the Fallen Hulk, who visibly strained under the dark energy’s influence. Direct attacks proved futile against her protective magical barrier, so the heroes shattered the pillars to collapse the tomb. Lilith's barrier held as she continued chanting, so the heroes fled before the entire tomb collapsed upon itself. Fallen Hulk had clawed his way out of the ground and stood with Lilith as she held the Darkhold aloft. The Temple of Chthon had materialized near Wundagore Mountain, and numerous green portals opened in the sky with balls of green energy pouring out of each, which Fallen Hulk called beautiful.[1]

Hunter and Wolverine infiltrated the Temple, and when they escaped Fallen Hulk attacked them, cornering them against a precipitous drop where he stomped the ground, sending the heroes plummeting below, though one of Magik's portals opened mid-air, ensuring their safety. Ready to unleash her full potential, redeemed Scarlet Witch flew to confront Hulk and hurled him into the Temple before suspending him mid-air with magic. Lilith emerged and freed Hulk while attempting to corrupt Wanda again, she feigned susceptibility before blasting Lilith back into the Temple and sealing her within, allowing the heroes to focus on Hulk. Hunter absorbed Hulk's darkness and recited the incantation from The Book of Thoth, successfully transforming Hulk back into Banner and freeing him from Lilith's influence.[1]
Return[]
Banner returned with them to the Abbey where he assisted Tony and the others in researching way to take Lilith's out for good, while participating in the field missions as the Hulk. Bruce explained revealed that the Abbey was open to Lilith the whole time, though Lilith restrained from attempting to wipe them out. Hulk joined the others in the final confrontation with Lilith at the Temple of Chthon, which ended with the threat being dealt with, at the cost of losing Hunter to the Darkhold.[1]Attributes
