History

Captain America was infected by a fungal zombie virus by an unknown figure impersonating General Ross, spreading it to the rest of the Avengers. Bruce Banner remained uninfected and, assuming that the infection spread through biting, turned into the Hulk whose skin was impenetrable. Groot guided the uninfected Hulk towards the Avengers Tower so that Bruce Banner could synthesize the antidote while managing Banner's Hulk persona. They made it to the Tower, but Banner was scratched by Rocket Raccoon, turning the Hulk into a zombie as well. Using an electrical shock, Groot restored the Avengers and Rocket Raccoon to normal, but by then the virus had spread to the X-Men.
