History

This version of Bruce Banner failed to save Rick Jones from the gamma bomb, instead shielding him with his body as both of them were exposed to the gamma rays. When they woke up, they found they had a telepathic rapport, hearing and responding verbally to each other's thoughts. Unfortunately, Ross and Talbot discovered the connection Rick had with the Hulk and electrically tortured him to lure the Hulk back to base. Furthermore, Rick was suffering from untreated radiation poisoning and died on the table during their experiments. Feeling the pain of Rick's death and absence, he became savage and murderous, killing members of the Fantastic Four and crushing Iron Man, until Thor managed to overpower him and kill him.
