Brussels was the de jure capital and largest city in Belgium in Western Europe. It was also home to the European Parliament for the European Union.
History
Beast of the X-Men battled Commander Courage and the Wereborgs in Brussels.[1]
Temperatures of 122 degrees Fahrenheit, supposedly caused by Ultron, were reported in Brussels by Maria Hill to Iron Man.[2]
Daken traveled to Brussels on a train to confront his father.[3] He blew up a bank to get his father's attention and the two battled using their claws but are stopped by the arrival of Cyber. He tried to kill them both but they were able to escape thanks to their healing factors.[4]
An evil Steve Rogers, working for Hydra, came to the UN assembly in Brussels to deliver a speech. He made it clear that any attacks or espionage on Hydra territory would no longer be tolerated, but would be met with exile and embargo. He also stated that Hydra did not need the rest of the world's financial or military support, but offered these nations to grow alongside them in a new era. Before he could continue and make a claim for the Savage Land, Steve was interrupted by Black Panther, who joined via hologram. T'Challa reminded the Hydra leader that his forces had already tried and failed three times to invade Wakanda. He challenged the man to face him himself, rather than sending more men for him to kill. Leaving the assembly, Steve ran into Namor. He had been sending the king of Atlantis threatening letters regarding a cube fragment in his possession. One last time, he urged Namor to give back what was his, before he'd be forced to take it.[5]
US-General James Woodley, possessed by the Cotati mage Shi Qaanth, attempted to kill several NATO representatives in Brussels until he was stopped by Captain America. Cap, with a rallying speech, convinced the representatives to join in the fight against the ongoing Cotati threat.[6]
Alternate Universes[]
Earth-1610[]
In Brussels, in Dome, Captain America first met Captain Britain and the rest of the European Defense Initiative, which had been developing for two years. There, Loki, in the disguise of scientist Gunnar Golmen, tried to convince everyone present that Thor was a regular person, who had merely stolen superhuman technology which gave him his powers. Nick Fury then commanded the Ultimates to team up with the European Defense Initiative to take Thor down.[7]
Still believed to be mentally ill Thorlief Golmen, Thor was held as a patient in the Dome, where he was visited by Doctor Donald Blake. He noticed Thor writing runes on the floor, which foretold a storm. When talking about his time in Asgard, the doctor found that Thor was not imagining things, but remembering them. Slowly, Brian Braddock also opened up to the idea that Thor was not insane. When Thor finally remembered everything, he realized that Doctor Blake had been his brother Balder all along. And while Thor had lost his powers, the Braddocks had worked on a new power suit for him. While they couldn't figure out a compact way for his portable power unit, Thor gave them the design they needed: a new hammer.[8]See Also
