Brute Bashby was a petty criminal who was recruited by the sensationalist newspaper publisher Rupert Dockery. He outfitted him with a costume and special weaponry so that he could battle Spider-Woman, so that Dockery's newspaper could cover their battles. Spider-Woman defeated the Grinder, however, and he was jailed.[1]
After being released from prison, the Grinder again turned to crime, and clashed with the hero Nova, who also defeated him.[2]Paraphernalia
Weapons
Grinder was outfitted with a circular saw-like device on his helmet that he used as a weapon, to deflect attacks and even to fly. He also wielded other saw-like blades for throwing and in hand-to-hand combat.
