Buck Richlen, who along with Val Adair and Adam Manna, was assigned by Director Nick Fury to engage in a hostile takeover of Stark Industries so that SHIELD could resume using them as their main weapons supplier. Abilities
Buck Richlen had S.H.I.E.L.D. training in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts. He was also a trained pilot.
Notes
- Buck Richlen and his associate Val Adair are stand-ins for comic penciler Rich Buckler, whose pseudonym at the time was Ron Validar. Before writing Iron Man, David Michelinie worked with Buckler in DC Comics' Star Hunters. Buckler had traced the design of a spaceship from the animated show Space Sentinels to use in their comic, and Michelinie asked for him to be replaced after finding out. However, DC opted to keep Buckler in the book, prompting Michelinie to leave the company and seek an assignment at Marvel. In a similar way to which Buck Richlen blamed his assistants for his ploy to take over Stark Industries, Rich Buckler had blamed his assistants for presenting the traced design.[2]
