History

Life and Death[]

More than thirty thousand years (seemingly circa 28,500 BC), C'Thunda was born in Atlantis. He became a mad wizard, full of hatred towards Atlantis because it spurned his wizardry.[1]

Intending to destroy Atlantis, C'Thunda forged special lenses to create a weapon great enough to perform his deed, but they were stolen from him and lost throughout time.[2] He then forged the Chimera from metals unknown to man in the Modern Age, endowed it with the power of the Cosmic Eternal. Calling upon the ancient gods to "rain blackness and death" onto Atlantis, C'Thunda was slain by an assassin who stole the Chimera and fled into Atlantis' deepest caves.[1]

Assemblage of Avatars[]

Circa 19,000 BC, as conflict broke between the Elder Gods, Agamotto summoned their representatives of the Elder Gods. The participants to that Assemblage of Avatars included Agamotto, Zhered-Na, Dakimh, Sorrow, Lady Linnea, Rotath, Teyanoga, Tuzun Thune, Akoos the Red Wizard, Thulsa Doom, and Lord Varnae. C'Thunda was summoned and attended the summit as a spirit.[3][4][5]

Legacy[]

The Chimera resurfaced ten thousand years later, during the Age of Kull, circa 18,500 BC. A villain used it to create a flame-giant intended to slay Kull, king of Valusia. Kull survived and his enemy died, but the Chimera remained lost. It resurfaced once again twenty thousand years, during the medieval period, sowing death in its wake each of the many times it appeared. At some point, it was presumed to have been destroyed, but eventually resurfaced in the Modern Age.[1] Soon afterwards, the lenses resurfaced as well.[2]

Religion[]

C'Thunda called upon the "ancient gods".[1] As an attendee at the Assemblage of Avatars, he was a representative of one of the four Elder Gods.[3][4][5]
