Synopsis for 1st story

Captain America fights a horde of Red Skull-like persons, who claw at him in a deranged mob known as the New World Order. As they scuffle, Cap falls into a sub-basement of a building where runs into a small cache of survivors who have hidden from the mob and a series of natural disasters that have imperiled all human life. Captain American explains that the mob are made up of ordinary humans who have caught a virus that turns them into mindless slaves of the ideology of the Red Skull, even though the Skull has been dead for years. The New World Order members follow Cap and proceed to infect and attack his new friends. A young girl is shot and Cap gives his blood as a transfusion to save her and the small group of survivors goes on the run overground.

Finding a downed S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, it turns out that M.O.D.O.K. is the source of the New World Order's hive mind. Captain America kills him and it releases his grip on the worldwide mob but they then revert to directionless beasts, still clamoring to convert every human to their totalitarian grip. The only ones not affected are Captain America and a young girl, so Cap briefly fantasizes that he is problem: once he is gone, there will be no more conflict and a kind of totalitarian harmony can overtake the world. The girl pleads with him to fight and he sees below that one of the other survivors has been cured of the Skull plague by Cap's blood. Cap is reinvigorated to fight and he starts giving his blood to cure the rest of humanity, who stage a comeback against the New World Order.
