Reprint of the 1st story from
Fantastic Four #124
Fantastic Four Vol 1 124 001

Detailed Summary:
While returning home in the Fantasti-Car following their battle with Galactus, the Fantastic Four are shocked when Reed suddenly faints and topples out of the vehicle. Johnny flames on and comes to Reed's aid, saving him from a fatal fall, while Sue and Ben narrowly avoid a serious crash when the vehicles controls jam. Landing on the ground, the Fantastic Four are surrounded by a throng of onlookers. Needing to get Reed medical attention immediately, Sue uses her powers to render the group invisible so they can slip away unseen. When they turn Reed over to the doctors at an east side hospital, it is quickly diagnosed that Reed is suffering from exhaustion. While Reed is being carted away with Sue in tow, Johnny and Ben overhear a nurse talking about seeing a monster. Initially they think that she is talking about Ben, but they later spot a hole that has been punched in the wall. Ben fixes the wall and begins wandering the hospital. When he spots the store room where the nurse claimed she saw the monster. He decides to go in and look and is knocked out by someone lurking in the darkness.

Johnny is also looking around and when presented with the daunting task of searching the hospital, he decides to flame on and fly across the halls until he is stopped by the hospital staff because the heat is disturbing the patrons.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Sue is waiting for word on her husband and begins to worry about his state. Suddenly, the Thing's mystery attacker gets the drop on her and knocks her out with a rag smothered in chloroform. The strange green skinned creature tries to leave with Sue, coming across some medical technicians and fights its way through them before they can stop it. Before it can smash through the hospital walls to the outside, the creature and Sue are spotted by Johnny. The Torch is forced to give up chase when the creature knocks an occupied car aside. Chasing the creature to Central Park, the Torch tries to confront the creature but it knocks him into a tree. When Johnny blasts free, he returns to the lake where he last saw the creature and finds no trace of them.

Back at the hospital, Ben is still pacing about when a nurse tells him to be quiet. While in a testing room, Reed Richards is subject to a battery of experiments. The diagnosis is soon confirmed to be sheer exhaustion and that all Richards needs is rest. When Johnny returns to the hospital, he tells Ben about Sue's kidnapping and how he found the creature he encountered familiar but could not remember when he saw it before. Ben sends Johnny to investigate further, opting to stay at the hospital until Reed wakes up.

At that moment in an underwater cave, the strange creature has taken Sue to an air pocket where she eventually comes around. Seeking to escape, Sue turns invisible, making the creature thing that she has escaped. While the creature is out looking for her, Sue uses her powers to snap through her bonds and then begins using a log to lever open a pile of rocks hoping to find freedom. This plan backfires when she suddenly causes the room to rapidly flood with water. While at the Baxter Building, Johnny searches the Fantastic Four's data banks for the identity of their foe when Ben rejoins him. After scanning through the various profiles, finally Johnny comes across one he recognizes: the entry on the so-called Creature of the Lost Lagoon.

While back at the hospital, Reed begins to wake up and overhears one of the doctors talking about Sue's kidnapping. Concerned for his wife, Reed tries to get out of bed, but he is still too weak. When he tries to escape with his stretching powers tax on his system causes him to pass out again. He is dragged back to his bed begging the doctors to let him save his wife. At that moment, Sue is being swept away in a torrent of water and soon becomes horrified when she realizes that in a few moments she will drown and never see her husband or son again.

Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD #1
Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD Vol 1 1 012-013

Nick Fury climbs up the side of a mysterious building while waves crash against the rocks below. Upon reaching the top he gains access to the building and drops inside. He burns his way through a door, and takes out a hapless guard with high-tech armor and weapons. As he pauses to figure out how to get through a sophisticated door, a mysterious figure rises out of the floor behind him, armed with a pistol. Before Nick Fury even knows his assailant is there, shots ring out and Fury collapses! The figure removes its mask...

...only to reveal Nick Fury! Speaking through a walkie-talkie, Fury tells Dugan that the Life-Model Decoy they were testing will never replace real agents in the field. Dugan makes an offhand comment about how Fury got the LMD four times, but Fury objects that he only shot three bullets! Putting 2 and 2 together, Nick realizes someone just tried to assassinate him! He also finds a mysterious poker-chip sized disk with the symbol of the astrological sign Scorpio on it, and wonders if the mysterious assailant is connected to it.

The scene switches to a nightclub in San Francisco, where lackluster comedian Flip Mason finishes up his show. He asks the manager for another advance, but gets turned down. Turns out the comedian has a gambling habit, and he needs the money to pay off a man named Hackett, a man whose thugs are waiting for him.

In Kansas City, Mitch Hackett, a woman, and another man named Lester are in an executive suite. They're getting ready to head to Vegas on a job. Mitch brags he's going right to the top with the Syndicate!

In New York City, Nick Fury and Val take a stroll, and he tells her about the Scorpio token he found. He begs off further walking as it starts to pour, claiming he has to get back to HQ.

Elsewhere yet again, race cars are zooming around the track in the Monza Autodrome. A car with a Lamborghini engine wins, driven by one Count Julio Scarlotti. While he holds up the trophy triumphantly, a Scorpio tattoo can be seen on his arm.

Several days later, S.H.I.E.L.D. is testing weapons in the Nevada Desert using Nick Fury as the dummy! The first test of the EPB G-System[1] goes off without a hitch, and they prepare to hit it with something bigger. However, as Dugan gives the command we see the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has a Scorpio tattoo!

Out on the testing range, Fury is kicking back and thinking while he waits for the missile to impact. All of the intelligence agencies have completely different rumors about Scorpio, and no idea who he is! Suddenly, Nick Fury notices a breeze—which can only mean the EPB has been turned off! He tries to radio Dugan, but the line is now dead on their end. Knowing he has to get outside the blast radius, some quick thinking leads to him radio S.H.I.E.L.D. unit 2 for a rocket-sled that runs on a track near him, and tells them to get it started in exactly ten minutes. Then he starts running towards the tracks, having a little over two miles to cover, and jumps on as it starts taking off, praying that it'll get him outside the blast radius.

Back in the Las Vegas S.H.I.E.L.D. bunker which Dugan and the others occupy, a mysterious figure mentally congratulates himself on the efficacy of his "sleep fumes." Suddenly, Fury crashes the rocket-sled through the wall to find the mysterious figure is none other than ... Scorpio! Fury is ready to rumble, but then Scorpio pulls out the Zodiac Key! Fury grabs Val and starts to make a run for it.

At that moment in a Las Vegas casino, Flip Mason has exhausted the last of his money gambling. Almost shaking, he resolves that he has no choice now but to hold up the casino! Suddenly, a man calls him over, thinking he's Hackett! The man hands Flip a briefcase that he claims has $200,000, and Flip leaves just as Mitch Hackett enters. Mitch asks the guy about the money, and he tells him he gave it to him two minutes ago. He's also trying to figure out if Mitch realized he was set up and figured out the briefcase was a bomb! However, Mitch, suspecting a double-cross, draws and fires at the guy as the guy also goes for his weapon.

Back in the S.H.I.E.L.D. bunker, Fury returns to battle Scorpio after making sure Val is safe. He's unprepared for the power of the Zodiac Key however, and Scorpio stuns him with a blast from it. Scorpio triumphantly announces his intention to kill Nick, but Nick isn't nearly as out of it as he seems, and a hand-to-hand battle ensues.

Nearby, the two mobsters are having a running gunfight which has gotten dangerously close to the S.H.I.E.L.D. research labs. Inside, Fury is about to unmask Scorpio when a stray bullet catches him. Scorpio seizes the upper hand and knocks Nick unconscious before escaping to his ship, promising to destroy the building and all inside. Outside, Hackett is fatally shot by his assailant, but he manages to squeeze off one more shot as he collapses. It goes horribly wide, however, and hits the flying ship above him in a critical spot! Spiraling out of control, the ship plunges nose-first into the desert. Val and Fury look on helplessly, sure that Scorpio must have perished in the crash—and still they don't know who he is.

Nearby, Flip Mason is placing a call to San Francisco to tell his wife about the money and thinking happy thoughts about how the conversation will go, when suddenly the suitcase bomb detonates and utterly destroys the phone booth and the man inside.

Marvel Team-Up #11

With the last of the Time Bombs sent to the present by Zarrko the Tomorrow Man, Spider-Man travels to the hidden land of Attilan to get assistance from the Inhumans to save the Avengers from the 23rd century. Hitching a ride on a helicopter, the wall-crawler arrives just out of the secret city. His arrival doesn't go unnoticed as no sooner has he arrived is he confronted by guards on hovering platforms. Spider-Man is quickly knocked out and brought before the Inhuman Royal Family. When Spider-Man regains consciousness he is ordered by Karnak to explain why he has come to Attilan. Spider-Man quickly explains the capture of the Avengers and that the time travelers known as Kang the Conqueror and Zarrko are at war with each other to conquer the past, present, and future. Learning that Zarrko's Time Bombs used an energy source similar to the Negative Zone barrier that once protected Attilan, Spider-Man came to them for help at the recommendation of the Human Torch. Hearing this story, the Inhumans agree to help Spider-Man return to the 23rd Century and rescue the Avengers.

Black Bolt takes the Time Bomb to his insane brother, Maximus the Mad. He gets to work on rigging the device to take them to the future. Meanwhile, Triton takes Spider-Man on a tour of Attilan, showing him the sights including the massive inert body of Omega. Soon enough, Maximus is finished rigging the device and they use it to travel to the 23rd Century. They arrive a few moments before Spider-Man escaped into the past and witness Zarrko entering Kang's citadel. They wait for Zarrko to go into the building and follow after him. However, before they can enter the fortress, Spider-Man and the Inhumans are attacked by the guards. After they defeat the guards, they rush inside just as Kang immobilizes Zarrko.

When Kang sees who has arrived, he cannot believe that Spider-Man is back. Outnumbered and overpowered, Kang is quickly incapacitated by a scream by Black Bolt. This scream also breaks the Avengers free from the stasis cells they are being held in. In the confusion, Zarrko tries to get away, but he is quickly webbed up by Spider-Man and dragged back. When they check on Kang they discover that his armor is empty. That's when the voice of Kang booms over them, telling them that they were merely pawns in his dirty little war with Zarrko and that he will see them again. Suddenly, the gathered heroes are teleported back to the present day. The Avengers thank Spider-Man and the Inhumans for the rescue, and Spider-Man jokingly quips that he will send them the bill before he web-slings for home.
