Synopsis for "Out of the Holocaust -- a Hero!"
Captain Marvel #1
As Captain Mar-Vell (whose name is believed to be "Captain Marvel" to those at the Cape) protects the base (and more specifically security officer Carol Danvers) from the Sentry's rampage, aboard the Kree ship above Earth, Una tries to free herself. Unable to do so, she settles for listening to the reports given by her robot, which is linked to the battle computers. While this is occurring, the landlord at the hotel Mar-Vell is staying at, suspicious that Mar-Vell may be a foreign spy, snoops around Mar-Vell's room for proof. Finding Mar-Vell's carrying case, he sets off a device inside.
At first Mar-Vell's attacks on the Sentry prove to be no effect, and any damage caused to the robot is instantly repaired. However, when Mar-Vell and Carol are trapped in a force field erected by the Sentry, Mar-Vell manages to destroy it by using his Uni-Beam to first smash open the robot, and then uses it's a magnetizing device to make the Sentry's inner workings contract on itself, deactivating the robot.
With the Sentry defeated, Yon-Rogg attempts to have Mar-Vell punished by his superiors and contacts Ronan the Accuser to pass judgment on Mar-Vell's actions. Ronan however, denies Yon-Rogg of the desired recourse as the mission was not jeopardized due to Mar-Vell's actions. While back on Earth, the humans at the Cape thank "Captain Marvel" for helping them, Mar-Vell allows them to believe him to be a costumed hero for the sake of his mission and leaves before they can ask any more questions, leaving Carol to wonder when she will see "Captain Marvel" again.Appearing in "From the Void of Space Comes... the Super Skrull!"

Captain Marvel #2
There, Mar-Vell has just returned from his battle against the Sentry to find that his carrying bag has been stolen from his room. Suspecting the owner of the hotel, and fearing that tampering may have activated the self-destruct mechanism on it, Mar-Vell rushes out to find the hotel owner. The owner himself is on his way to the Cape with to turn over to the military there.
When Mar-Vell tracks him down, he finds that the hotel owner is being attacked by the Super-Skrull. Captain Marvel then battles the Super-Skrull, however the Skrull's many powers prove to be too much for Mar-Vell who is easily knocked out and taken prisoner. Aboard the Kree ship orbiting Earth, Yon-Rogg decides to do nothing, hoping the Super-Skrull eliminates his opposition for Una's affections. The Super-Skrull then leaves the scene with Mar-Vell as his prisoner, leaving behind the carrying case, with it's self destruct function ticking away.

Synopsis for "From the Ashes of Defeat!"
Captain Marvel #3
There when Yon-Rogg refuses to grant Mar-Vell permission to go back to Earth and stop the Super-Skrull and save the Earth from nuclear holocaust, Mar-Vell petitions the Imperial Minister, who allows Mar-Vell to go back to Earth, more to get revenge on the Skrull who defeated him than to save Earth. Mar-Vell arrives just in time to see the Super-Skrull (disguised as Lawson) enter the Cape with the carrying case.
Mar-Vell attacks the Super-Skrull, blowing the Skrull's cover and forcing him to reveal his true identity. However, when the battle is evenly matched, the Super-Skrull tries to use his Skrull-born hypnosis abilities on Mar-Vell. Anticipating this move, Mar-Vell uses a reflective surface to turn this power against the Super-Skrull. Mar-Vell takes back the carrying case and deactivates it's self destruct mechanism, and then orders the Skrull to flee to the furthest reaches of space. With the Super-Skrull defeated, Mar-Vell learns the owner of his hotel is being taken to the hospital for his injuries and will be in a coma for a while.
