Synopsis for "Shoot-Out at the O.K. Space Station!"
Rick and Captain Marvel are transported to a faraway asteroid by the Supreme Intelligence. They start to suffocate in the asteroid's poisonous atmosphere, but are helped by a nearby thyamite prospector named Shabby, who gives them helmets to breathe. Seeing the star on Captain Marvel's costume, Shabby assumes he's the Marshall he sent for, though Mar-Vell protests that his name isn't "Mar-Shall". Rick, using his Nega-Band, acts on an idea he had and transmutes the matter of his clothes into a red and blue costume more appropriate for the setting, joking that he might call himself "Marvel Boy". Mar-Vell is alarmed that Rick is finding more uses for the Nega-Bands than he ever did.
Shabby leads the pair back to a domed outpost that looks like an Old West pastiche being terrorized by a gang of outlaws. Rick and Marshall Marvel fight off the gang, but as the ruffians run off, they promise to be back when they tell the "big boss". In the meantime, the heroes head to the saloon to relax while Shabby tells them about the nearby planet of Deneb IV that the Kree recently liberated from the Skrulls, opening up the orbiting asteroids for mining activities. Rick catches a glimpse of a beautiful woman there and is entranced, but notices he can partially see through her and she vanishes as soon as he looks away.
When the big boss shows up, it turns out to be the Stranger, who came to the outpost to explore the strange experience of living out a Western. He challenges Captain Marvel to a gunfight in the street, though it plays out as a brawl with their respective cosmic powers and a raygun that Mar-Vell had conficated from the gang members. Stranger deflects a shot from the gun into the roof of the dome, opening a hole which Rick flies up to attempt to plug with his powers before the poisonous air leaking in kills the town. Mar-Vell's distraction in the face of the new peril leads to Stranger accidentally shooting him in the back. Disappointed and disillusioned with his fantasy after that, the Stranger abandons the asteroid. The station is saved and afterwards Rick spots the girl from the saloon who calls to him by name before vanishing again. Shabby loans Mar-Vell his robotic mule in gratitude, which after some modifications, provides him and Rick a way to travel to the world of Deneb IV.
