Synopsis for "First Contact"
Captain Marvel continued to hallucinate before he was arrested by the police. However, he was released when others saw a giant reptilian monster, a Hyssta calling himself Captain Marvel, storming the city. Elsewhere, Moondragon sensed that her power was needed on Earth before another Hyssta made his way to the planet.
Notes
- Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel and Rick's former partner, died from incurable systemic cancer in the classic Death of Captain Marvel #1.
- Rick Jones mentions a woman who went by "Captain Marvel". That's none other than Monica Rambeau, who went by that name from her first appearance in 1982 until 1996's Avengers: Unplugged #5.
- Marlo and Rick's wedding was indeed invaded by aliens, as seen in the pages of Incredible Hulk #418.
