The Carnage symbiote moments before bonding to Cletus Kasady.
The Carnage symbiote was the spawn of the Venom symbiote. It was brought to Earth when the probe, which contained the Venom symbiote, was brought back to the planet by Baron Mordo, on orders by Dormammu, at the same time that it was reproducing. Mordo had it bond with Cletus Kasady,[1], who in turn served Dormammu and attempted to help Mordo release him into their dimension, but they failed and the symbiote was banished along with Kasady and Venom into Dormammu's realm.[2]
