Synopsis for 1st story
Limping through a sewer tunnel past a Goblin Nation gang tag, Kenneth Neely notes that he was a serial killer, rightly seen as a monster by the general public, but that even he didn't know pure evil until he encountered Carnage - a bloodthirsty symbiote with ambitions of godhood. Realizing that Carnage attaining its goals would result in the end of everything, Kenneth turned to the one person he could think of that would be able to stop it: its former host Cletus Kasady... but that when he found Cletus the notorious serial killer was little more than a shut-in, secluding himself in the ruins of St. Estes Home for Boys and preying on derelicts using a hybrid of symbiote dragon and Iron Man armor. Kenneth had goaded Cletus into embarking on a new killing spree and reclaiming the mantle of Carnage, hoping to return him to his old self... but that doing so may have backfired badly. As Kenneth enters Cletus' lair in an abandoned subway station under Grant Street, Cletus greets him, lounging on a throne of symbiote matter and creating a cobra-shaped plasma construct using one of his symbiote's repulsor emitters. As Kenneth says he's glad to see Cletus made it out of the diner collapse, Cletus muses that when he took Iron Man's "Iron Symbiote" it was to prove a point, and that at the time he hadn't cared less what it was capable of -- having still been bonded to the Carnage symbiote at the time. As Kenneth attempts to broach the subject of stopping Carnage, Cletus interrupts to say that will have to wait, as Spider-Man's Venom Touch overloaded the Extrembiote's Arc Reactor, which is now malfunctioning and cooking him from the inside-out. Cletus remarks that for a moment the Arc Reactor was supercharged and he was able to interface with Tony Stark's neural network, discovering an even better way than his Hive to remake the world in his image. As Kenneth glumly asks what their next move is, Cletus transforms into Extreme Carnage and rhetorically asks what one does when their spark plug needs replacing.
In the recesses of his mindscape, Jon Shayde finds himself strapped to an operating table while Carnage pokes at his exposed brain with its claws. As he demands to know what it's doing to him, Carnage replies that it's searching his memories for sites of depravity it can exploit to corrupt him into a more suitable host, attempting to coax him by saying that the bonding experience can be euphoric. Jon refuses to comply, snarling that he isn't Cletus Kasady, and the symbiote replies that is why he's suffering - his brain conjuring up a gristly scene to make sense of what's happening to him. As Jon demands to know where they are physically, Carnage replies that they're currently in the crawl-space between realities. Jon vows to fight it every step of the way, Carnare retorting that that's why he'll break.
On an online message board, a trio of Carnage fanboys celebrate Cletus Kasady's triumphant return and bicker over whether or not he was mid AF before he bonded to the Carnage symbiote, wondering where he'll strike next.
At Stark Unlimited' corporate headquarters in Greenwich Village, a group of engineers work to cannibalize scrapped suits of Iron Man Armor when the mangled body of Yuri -- one of the security guards -- is thrown through a glass door. Entering the laboratory, Cletus Kasady introduces himself and Ken Neely before demanding to be taken to see Tony Stark. The chief engineer, Dr. Pete Phipps, nervously explains that Tony Stark doesn't own Stark Unlimited anymore, the company having been acquired by Kelvin Heng. Mocking Dr. Phipp's nervous stutter, Cletus asks if he can fix the overloaded Arc Reactor, and when Dr. Phipps says he can't Cletus fries him with a bolt of energy from it. Cletus says that's what will happen to the rest of them if they refuse to help fix him. Another engineer stammers that Stark never shared the specs of his armor with his engineers, Cletus deciding to replace the damaged armor in his cyborg symbiote with a Stark Sentinel.
In Brooklyn, Scorpion checks in on Spider-Man and asks how he's holding up. Getting the wounds inflicted by Cletus' claws stitched up, Miles replies between winces that he heals fast and will be fine after a few days' rest. Stating that Miles won't be getting them, Gargan helps him to his feet and informs him that Cletus was spotted attacking the Stark Unlimited HQ.
As Cletus assimilates the Stark Sentinel into his cyborg symbiote, one of the engineers warns him that they have no idea if it will be compatible with the Extremis nanotech. Warning the scientists against trying to double-cross him, the now-colossal Extreme Carnage tells Kenneth to watch his six while the eggheads give him the Best Buy treatment. When Kenneth protests he only has one hand and no weapons, Extreme Carnage decides the time has come to reward his loyalty. Grabbing a selection of Iron Man armor components, Extreme Carnage sticks them onto Kenneth and bonds a piece of the Extrembiote to him. Kenneth initially rejoices at finally getting what he'd long dreamed of, only to realize that he's not the one in control: a copy of Cletus' consciousness -- akin to the one Jon Shayde had once been infected with -- is. As Kenneth -- transformed into a jester-themed symbiote cyborg -- protests being made a prisoner in his own body, his symbiote mockingly says that the only person Cletus trusts to look after his interests is himself. The Cape Killers arrive, Hightail attacking Kenneth using her superspeed before confronting Extreme Carnage. Kenneth ensnares Hightail's feet with tendrils before blasting her with his arm-cannon. As Kenneth laughs, Taskmaster lops off his left hand, Kenneth dramatically screaming in pain before revealing that he was faking, regrowing the hand -- which Kenneth was missing anyway -- and mauling him with his talons. Spider-Man, Scorpion, and Electro arrive, overwhelming Kenneth. Still immobilized, Extreme Carnage tells the engineers to hurry up and that he wants full access to Stark Unlimited's network. Electro blasts Kenneth with lightning, but he retaliates by encasing her in a suit of Iron Man armor, causing her to electrocute herself. As Kenneth fires his arm-cannon at Scorpion, Gargan evades and smashes him with his tail, sending him flying out the window to the street below. Scorpion asks Spider-Man if he overdid it, Spider-Man replying that he kinda did but will need to do it again if he can't zap "Kaiju-Kasady". Lamenting not having helped his parents with moving day, Spider-Man web-swings towards Extreme Carnage as he finishes installing the Stark Sentinel's Arc Reactor. As Extreme Carnage says that he's too late, Spider-Man charges up a Venom Strike... only for it to be absorbed by the Arc Reactor, booting it up. Interfacing with Stark Unlimited's network, Extreme Carnage gloats that he can feel the entire city and can take over anyone he wants. Dazed, Miles asks what's happening, one of the engineers explaining that Cletus now has access to the internet and can take over anyone in the city with a Stark-brand device -- infecting them with his symbiote like he did Kenneth Neely and turning them into his slaves.
