History

Carol was among the Avengers dispatched by Captain America to intercept the Phoenix Force before it reached Earth. She was with Nova when he could feel it heading towards the solar system. As it came closer, she admired its beauty in the face of its threat. Thor was the first to attack the Phoenix Force and managed to weaken it, though he was left unconscious and his hammer broken from the fight. Realizing this might be their only shot, Ms. Marvel, Nova and Vision went in for the attack. However, instead of bothering to defeat them, the Phoenix Force briefly possessed Ms. Marvel and Nova before realizing that its true host was summoning it on Earth.
